Project PROMISE – Personalized Medicine Inquiry-Based Education is a Erasmus+ project coordinated by the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS).
The PROMISE project seeks to prepare medical and science students for the rapidly changing landscape of medical practice and research by creating innovative teaching tools and practices for inquiry-based online learning of P4 Medicine and Responsible Research and Innovation Principles (RRI). P4 Medicine, which stands for predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory, aims to revolutionize the practice of medicine by focusing on predicting and preventing the apparition and development of a disease while personalizing the treatment to each patient’s needs.
The First PROMISE multiplier event was held in the University of Zagreb (Croatia) at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, on 18th September 2021. The event was attended by the first generation PROMISE students, mainly from Croacia, PROMISE partners and mentors, professors from different Universities, and stakeholders from the field of P4 Medicine.
Mar Carrió (principal investigator of ITSHEC) and Nathalia Rosa (project manager and investigator of ITSHEC), both from team UPF (partner of PROMISE Project), took advantage of First PROMISE multiplier event to disseminate the ITSHEC project to the participants during the P4 medicine and RRI Fair, especially to the students, who were interested in the topic of transversal skills in higher education. In the discussions, the students expressed the importance of transversal skills for their professional future and the need for universities to foster this approach from the early years.
ITSHEC’s participation in international events is a fundamental part of the project strategy, with the aim of developing internationalisation skills and promoting the project’s networking.
